About Me

Hi, I'm Michael Petrynka, a software developer working and residing in Cornwall Ontario, Canada - a small city in Eastern Ontario situated along the bank of the St. Lawrence River. I am a product of St. Lawrence College where I studied Information Technology and acquired my interest in programming.

I have been working as a software developer since 1998 having gained my employment status directly out of college. My work consist primarily in the development commercial software products but I also spend time performing research, technical support, systems analysis, network and server administration. I occasionally have the opportunity to work on web based applications such as data driven websites, administration pages, and custom IIS modules and handlers.

In my free time, I actively participate in community theatre as a director, actor, stage manager, and whatever else I may be asked to do.  I am also a member of the Seaway Valley Theatre Company's board of directors. I also enjoy hockey and fishing.

The Small Town Coder Blog

As my interest in mobile based research and development increased, I decided that it would be a good time to start a blog whereby I could post my research, projects, examples, and other material related to mobile application development tools, frameworks, and techniques. This blog would be, not only, a resource for myself to refer to but also one for other people who share a similar interest.

Cornwall is a small town and not known for being a technical hub. There are no technical social groups or workshops that take place here (none that I know of anyway). Therefore, meeting new people and networking is difficult and hopefully this blog will help me do so. If you would like to contact me, you can do so by sending me an email or follow me on Twitter.

Thank you for visiting.
